The New York Mets have commitments for seven of the 10 ownership shares of $20 million each they are trying to sell to pay off debt and raise capital. The sale of the limited partnership units will not take place until all 10 can close at the same time, a person familiar with the negotiations said Wednesday.

Green Bay Packers and TE Jermichael Finley Agree on Two-Year Deal

The Packers heading into the offseason had just 8 unrestricted free agents, but that number is down to 7 after the team today came to terms with tight end Jermichael Finley on a two-year deal.

According to Mike Florio at PFT, the extension is worth around $15 million. $7.5 million per year top the $7.4 million per year value of Cowboys tight end Jason Witten’s current contract.

The deal is also worth approximately $2 million more than the projected franchise tag for a tight end, and $2 million less than the projected franchise tag for a wide receiver.

Finley, when healthy, is very good, but seems to have issues staying on the field. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is also used as a wide out at times, adding another position to his resume.

In four season in the NFL, Finley has 137 receptions for 1,818 yards and 15 touchdowns. Finley missed most of the 2010 season with a knee injury.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated goaltender Curtis Sanford, who had been on injured reserve following a lower body injury suffered earlier this month. The club on Wednesday also said it had assigned goaltender Allen York to the Chicago Express, its ECHL affiliate. The 32-year-old Sanford has missed the past six games since the injury in a home loss to Dallas on Feb.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded center Antoine Vermette to the Phoenix Coyotes for two draft picks and goaltender Curtis McElhinney. The deal, announced on Wednesday by Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson, would give Columbus a second-round pick in the 2012 draft and a fifth-round pick in 2013.
